Release Your Inner Bogan
April 17th 2007 01:38
Last night I heard the hugely exciting news that Guns n' Roses are TOURING Australia!!!!!!!
I was so excited when I saw the ad that I almost fell off the couch! How come I didn't know about this? How could it have escaped my attention? Thankfully tickets for their Melbourne show don't go on sale until next Thursday,....so there's time to get myself organised.
My god, Guns n' Roses!!!! They've finally finished their Chinese Democracy album (Axl's only been working on it for what? 12 years??). It doesn't matter whether Chinese Democracy sucks. It doesn't matter that Axl is the only remaining original member. Nothing matters except that I'm finally going to get to see Guns n' Roses live!!!!! I was only 17 the last time they toured, and unfortunately I couldn't go to see them at Calder Park. So now, 14 years later, I'm finally going to get to see them.
Australia, it's time to let loose your inner bogan and allow it to worship at the alter of the High Priest of Bogan Rock, Axl Rose!! This is going to be a bogan celebration, the likes of which we haven't seen since the last time AC/DC toured. So break out your flannellette shirts, black jeans, Jim Beam t-shirts, spruce up your mullet and for gods sake, don't forget your Winnie Reds. This is going to be a night to remember.
To whet your appetite, here's a clip of Guns n' Roses playing November Rain live in Argentina back in 1993.
Tickets go on sale next Thursday April 26 via Ticketek

I saw Guns 'n' Roses last time they toured and played at Eastern Creek with Skid Row. Sebastian Bach is coming out too and Rose Tattoo are supporting again.
I'm in two minds about going because I don't want to ruin the good memories I have. It's a tough call.

I'm excited about Sebastian Bach being support act. I LOVED skid row. I'm definitely going to go....but I can see why you'd be in two minds. I hope they're good.

I didn't see Sebastian when he toured last year because on the night he was playing there was a writing seminar on too and I had to make a decision. I chose the writing seminar...I must be growing up.
But my cousin went to see him and she said he was good but he walked off after 80 mins because someone threw a beer bottle at him. Idiots. She also met him at an in store - he still looked good - just a wee little more chubby.

Oh yeah, Sebastian....mmmmm. I didn't get a chance to see him when he toured last year, but I was curious as to how he'd be looking these days.
Heck, I'd still take him....even if he is a bit more chubby

hilarious! what a conniption! i think that sums up the skid row/sebastian bach thing up yeah? all his fans have moved on, why hasn't he?
kyliew, i feel your excitement, but just can't justify this tour. it is kind of like peaches without cream - football without meat pies - v.b. without winnie reds!! no duff, no slash, no matt - only a tubbier axl... it just can't be as good. although i did hear a review on velvet revolver last year on their live show, and apparently they too had a bit of age catching up on them. couldn't quite work the leathers like they used to ;-p

I remember seeing a couple of velvet revolver film clips a while ago....and was shocked to discover they were looking so old. Then did the maths....and wondered why I'd been shocked in the first place!
Ah well, anyway, it'll be my chance to indulge my inner bogan....she doesn't get much of a chance at being let out to play! But there's a part of me that will always be a bogan.

Will he wear my Moccosans?
Have my Mullet?
Drink my cask wine and beer?
He can stay in there thanks.
I can't afford to share my dole payments.
